Town of LaValle P O Box 30 La Valle, WI 53941 March 1, 2009 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE FOR MORE INFORMATION, CONTACT:Katie Radtke, 608-985-7695 Absentee Voting is Easy in Wisconsin Town of La Valle, WI – Town of La Valle voters who want to vote in the April 7 Wisconsin Spring Election but have Election Day conflicts may still apply for an absentee ballot, said Town of La Valle Clerk Katie Radtke today. “If you want to vote in the Wisconsin Supreme Court race, State Superintendent of Public Instruction race, Town of LaValle Chairman race, Town of LaValle Supervisor I race and Town of LaValle Supervisor III race, Reedsburg School District races and referendums or Wonewoc School District races but plan to be out-of-town, you can still make sure your vote counts,” Radtke said. “Request your ballot, we will mail it to you, and the rest is simple.” “Wisconsin makes absentee voting very easy,” Radtke said. “You do not have to provide a reason, just make sure you get your absentee request in on time.” “The deadline for an absentee ballot request is 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 2,” Radtke said. “We need enough time to mail it and get it back by the time the polling places close on Election Day.” Voters can also vote in person in the Clerk’s office before Election Day by filling out an absentee ballot request, then receiving their ballot, then filling out the ballot and turning it in – in the sealed absentee ballot envelope – to the clerk. “Voting in the clerk’s office is an easy, two-step process,” Radtke said. “However, you can only vote in the clerk’s office within 20 days or less of Election Day.” Voters with questions about how to vote absentee may call the Town of La Valle clerk’s office at 608-985-7695 or check “Voter Information” on the website of the Wisconsin Government Accountability Board’s Elections Division at http://gab.wi.gov. “You don’t need any excuse to vote by absentee ballot in Wisconsin,” Radtke said. “Maybe that means you don’t have any excuse not to vote this spring.” ###
