October 9, 2008
1.Meeting: was called to order at 7:00pm by President Connie Hartje.
Roll call was taken.
2.Roll Call:

3. AGENDA: was read and approved. A motion was made by Karen Geitz
seconded by Andrew Johnson to approve. All aye. Motion passed
4. MINUTES: were read and approved. A motion was made by Calvin Brey
seconded by Karen Geitz to approve the minutes. All aye. Motion
passed.
5. BILLS: were presented to the committee by Chief Hahn for the month
of October. A motion was made by Mark Schvinck seconded by Andrew
Johnson to approve checks #4261-#4271 totaling $1,534.62.

Motion was made by Karen Geitz seconded by Andrew Johnson to
deposit $1500.00 into the checking account according to the present
split. All aye. Motion passed.
Motion was made by Karen Geitz seconded by Andrew Johnson to
approve the Financial Statement. All aye. Motion passed.
CHIEF’S REPORT: Greg reviewed the calls for the month of September.
Call numbers are almost the same as last year. The United Fund kick
off had a large turn out. The blood drive collected 47 pints. Fire
Prevention has about 270 kids visiting the fire house. Kids from the
LaValle School received a LaValle Fire Department t-shirt. Greg had a
break down of hours fire department members worked and usage of
personal equipment that will be given to FEMA from the flood. There
was discussion of the possible repair or replacement of the LaValle
Library.
Calvin brought up his concerns of the $10,000.00 capital fund payment.
Calvin feels as though it maybe a little to much this year. Both
boards need to talk about how to take the money left over and unused
from the budget and put into the Capital Maintenance Fund. The boards
will need Steve Roy’s input on how to title the fund, where the money
should be placed and who will take care of the fund. The Fund would
be split Town 90% Village 10% where as the left over money from the
budget would be split Town 92% Village 8%. Calvin Brey made a motion
to amend the Capital Maintenance fund from $10,000.00 to $5,000.00
seconded by Andrew Johnson.

7. 2009 BUDGET: A motion was made by Calvin Brey seconded by Karen
Geitz to approve the $95,000.00 budget for the 2009 year.

8. APPROVAL OF FIRE CHIEF: Marin Milewski was elected the LaValle
Fire Department Chief by the Firefighters. His term would begin
10-09-2008. Calvin made a motion to accept Marin as the new Chief
seconded by Andrew Johnson.

The committee thanked Greg Hahn for his eight years of service as Fire
Chief.
9. REVIEW OF BY-LAWS: Calvin would like to have the board look over
the By-Laws and bring back any suggestions.
10. ADJOURN: A motion was made by Calvin Brey seconded by Karen
Geitz to adjourn. Motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 7:57pm.
